Fraud Alert

The Utah Department of Public Safety has been made aware of a scam involving our Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) Division. Some people have received emails advising that there is a Legal Affidavit and Federal Complaint from their State, and it is tied to their social security number.

They are then instructed to call a phone number and are asked to send money to clear it up. One of the phone numbers used is 916-476-9639. Please DO NOT send any money to this group. It is a fraud.

If you feel you are a victim of this scam, or if you have been contacted and would like to report it, please click on the link below and it will take you to the FBI Internet Crimes Complaint Center (IC3) where you can file your complaint.
