TO: Fire Prevention Board Members FROM: Brent R. Halladay, Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal DATE: October 21, 2009 SUBJECT: Fire Prevention Board Meeting A Fire Prevention Board Meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at 8:30 A.M. at South Salt Lake City Hall, Council Chambers, 220 East Morris Avenue (2430 South), South Salt Lake City, Utah.
The agenda for the Board Meeting will be as follows:
- Board meeting called to order by Chairman Ted Black.
- Approval of the September 8, 2009 Board meeting minutes.
- Presentation to the Board by State Fire Marshal Ron Morris informing the Board on proposed legislation for the 2010 Utah Legislative Session, to include but not limited to, Flame Effects Certification, Novelty Lighter legislation, and the adoption of the 2009 International Fire Code.
- Presentation to the Board by Chief Deputy Brent Halladay presenting Fire Marshal Phil Roberts, Murray Fire Department, to be a member of the Standards and Training Council representing the Fire Marshal’s Association of Utah, and replace Chief Jim Guynn, Washington City Fire Department, who has asked to be released from the position.
- Presentation to the Board by Hugh Conner, Director, Utah Fire & Rescue Academy, seeking permission from the Board to purchase a new training prop to replace the Firefighting Skills Trailer (Frac Tank) at the approximate cost of $85,000.
- Presentation to the Board by Dustin Tolbert, Service Coordinator, Crawford Door Sales, on the requirement to test fire doors annually as required in NFPA 80 – Fire Doors & Other Opening Protectives.
- Report to the Board by Chief Deputy Brent Halladay seeking direction from the Board on how the Board wishes to distribute the monies given by the Legislature for Rural Training for Volunteer Firefighters.
- Report to the Board by Chief Deputy Brent Halladay on the correspondence with GE Security Supra with regard to the transfer of responsibility of the “6049” numbered elevator access key to the Utah State Fire Marshals Office.
- Presentation to the Board by Chief Deputy Brent Halladay proposing to amend R710-1, Concerns Servicing Portable Fire Extinguishers, with regard to inspecting portable fire extinguishers without purchasing all of the servicing equipment.
- Presentation to the Board by Chief Deputy Brent Halladay proposing to amend R710-4, Buildings Under the Jurisdiction of the State Fire Prevention Board, to bring the rule in compliance with the adoption of the 2009 ICC codes.
