Intermountain Hazardous Materials Conference

For those of you who attended the recent Hazardous Materials Conference in Provo, I want to say THANK YOU!
After 10 consecutive years of hosting the Hazardous Materials Conference we are going to do something different. Next year [2010] we will combine with two other Department of Public Safety Conferences: the new Governors Public Safety Summit and the Homeland Security Public Officials Conference.
There are several reasons for combining of the conferences:
- Many of the same people attend all three conferences especially from rural Utah.
- Money and time needed to attend is scarce.
- You are forced to decide which conference will do you or your organization the most good when in reality all three have valuable and needed information.
The Hazardous Materials Section of the Fire Marshals office is very supportive of this concept and the reasons behind the decision to combine. I have been assured that the Hazardous Materials community's needs will stll be met.
I am excited about what is coming next year and hope that many of you consider the importance of attending.
