Office of State Fire Marshal
July's newsletter won't exist...at least not for a week
or two and
then
we'll see.
A reorganization in the Utah Fire Marshal's Office has necessitated a logistical change for the Public Education Section. It's not as bad as it sounds - we're just moving to another building. The time frame of the move is short and has pushed many other projects, including the newsletter, to the side. I apologize now for missing your meeting and not returning your phone call.
My new info:
- Monica Colby, Office of the State Fire Marshal

Cell: 801-971-0492 (this hasn't changed - yeah!)
Fax: 801-256-2495
Email: monicacolby@utah.gov (this hasn't changed either).
- Ashley's phone number is:
- News! Home Fire Sprinkler Boxes: They are here, they are here, they are here! Home Fire Sprinkler Boxes are rolling off the assembly line and will soon be on your desk. Still, please be patient as I'm not even at a desk right now and can't get them to you - but they are coming.
- Utah State Fair: We don't know yet what day(s) we'll have, but we are looking at doing a home fire sprinkler demonstration (the live fire demo with similar "rooms" thing). See if you can't keep Sept 11, 12 & 19 open. This is going to be a very big event.
- Utah Burn Center: Utah Burn Center has a major event September 12 (yes, it's the same day) at the U of U. Salt Lake City Fire is the responding agency, but this is a regional center who's goals are centered around this year's Fire Prevention Week Theme about not getting burned. We may try to pull of a presence at both events so definitely try to be in Salt Lake City on Sept 12.
- JFS: The Utah Burn Center is interested in creating a statewide model juvenile firesetter intervention and prevention program that incorporates all stakeholders. This is going to take the help of more than just the few state people - wanna be a part of this? Monica Colby cell: 801-971-0492
