Utah State Fire Marshal - Brent R. Halladay

Brent R. Halladay began his career in the fireservice in December of1971 as a firefighter for the Provo City Fire Department. In March 1974 Brent joined the Orem City Fire Department as the Fire Inspector and in 1977, was promoted to the position of Orem City Fire Marshal.

From 1980 – 1981, Brent became the Executive Vice President of Western Energy, a corporation that installed automatic HVAC systems in commercial buildings. In August 1981, Brent joined the Utah State Fire Marshal’s Office as a Fire/Arson Investigator.

In 1987 Brent was promoted to the position of Chief Fire/Arson Investigator, and in March 1990 he was again promoted. This time he was promoted to the position of Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal and held that position with three State Fire Marshals. On April 4, 2011, Brent accepted the appointment to the Utah State Fire Marshal position.

In addition, Brent currently holds certifications as a firefighter, fire investigator, and law enforcement officer. He is a graduate of Brigham Young University where in 1977 he was awarded with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.

State Fire Marshal Brent Halladay is married, the father of four grown children, and has 14 grandchildren. He currently resides with his wife on the family farm in Pleasant Grove. His favorite hobby for the last 39 years has been the ownership and restoration of antique autos, trucks, and tractors.
