Highway Patrol - Executive Protection
Click on the following for more information.
Utah Law requires that the Commissioner of Public Safety provide security for Utah’s Governor and immediate family. The Commissioner of Public Safety fills security detail positions through the appointment of troopers from within the ranks of the Utah Highway Patrol. The governor is the head of the Executive Branch of government, and the governor’s security detail is frequently referred to as the “Executive Protection Detail”.
In addition to responsibilities for the governor and his family, the Executive Protection Detail acts as liaison between the Utah Highway Patrol and several federal, state, and local agencies to facilitate security for visiting governmental leaders, diplomats, ambassadors, and dignitaries.
