Highlights

UHP held an administrative check point today November 13th, on I-70 eastbound at milepost 183. The purpose of this check point was to look for the impaired driver as well as check driver license status. A Dodge pickup coming from California came through the check point and contact was made. There were several indicators as well as a UHP K-9 hit on the bed of the truck. Upon further search of the camper, five duffel bags were located and all full of high grade marijuana. A total of 97 pounds of marijuana were located in those duffel bags. A male subject was arrested and and charged with possession and distribution charges. He was booked into the Grand County Jail. 

Law enforcement officers across the state have announced a special crackdown this Thanksgiving for people who fail to buckle up. Officers are declaring zero tolerance for unbuckled motorists and are encouraging safe driving over the Thanksgiving Holiday.

Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel times of the year. Whether you are driving 10 or 100 miles, or even flying to your holiday destination, it is important to buckle up every trip, every time. Law enforcement officers statewide are declaring zero tolerance for unbuckled motorists during the Thanksgiving Holiday period. The goal of this effort is to have ZERO FATALITIES and to prevent families from suffering through the loss of a loved one during this special time of year.
