UHP Highlights - April 17, 2008
New Troopers:
Twelve new troopers will be sworn-in on April 18, 2008 at the State Capitol.
DUI Squad:
During the two week period of March 31st – April 13th the DUI Squad made 16 DUI related arrests. The squad stopped 150 vehicles during that period of time.
Aero Bureau:
On April 12th the helicopter assisted the Morgan County Sheriff’s search and rescue team with a stranded hiker on the cliffs near Devil’s Slide. The helicopter was used to lift in a rope rescue team above the hiker. The team worked their way to the hiker and then guided the helicopter in for a pick-up. The hiker and the team were then lifted safely out.
Fatal Crashes Investigated by UHP:
During the month of March there were 10 fatal crashes throughout the state. Troopers investigated six of those crashes.
