The Larry H. Miller Public Safety Building located on the Larry Miller Campus of Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) was completed November 2006. Occupants began moving in to the building in December. The Utah Dept. of Public Safety, Peace Officer's Standards and Training, Utah Department of Corrections Basic Academy, UHP Training Section, SLCC Institute of Public Safety/Criminal Justice Program, including SLCC Law Enforcement Satellite Academy, Hazardous Material Institute, and DPS Professional Development Center reside in the public safety building.

The indoor firearms range is anticipated to be completed within six months and the building will be fully functional.  There are 62 dorm rooms available to attendees of the training classes being held at the Larry H. Miller Public Safety Building.  Current capacity is 124, with the ability to expand to 186 total residents.

There are 20 classrooms capable of holding approximately 24 students each, for a total of approximately 240 students at one time in the building.  Eighteen of the classrooms can be combined to create nine large classrooms with a capacity of over 40 students in each room.

There are three different gyms equipped for training in physical fitness, arrest control tactics and practical training exercises located on the first floor.  There is a state-of-the-art weight room with free weights, strength and conditioning equipment and stationary training equipment.

Part of the second and third floor of the Larry H. Miller Building houses the staff and conference rooms for all the organizations that reside in the building with a total staff and administrators of over 70 people.

Driving Instructions

Driving from the North:
Take I-15 South to Exit 295 (9000 South). Exit right (west) onto 9000 South and proceed to 450 west (1st light). Turn left (south), go to 9120 South & turn left (east) or go to 9400 South & turn left (east), go to 300 West (frontage road) & turn right (south). Proceed south to 9800 South & turn right (west) go to the end of the street which is a dead end street and turn right into the parking lot.

Driving from the South:
Take I-15 North to Exit 293 (10600 South) exit to the left (west) onto 10600 South and proceed to Jordan Gateway (400 West) (1st light). Turn right (north), go to 10000 South (light) and turn right (east), over the railroad tracks to 300 West (light) & turn left (north) on 300 west. Proceed 2 blocks north on 300 west to 9800 South & turn left (west) go to the end of the street which is a dead end street and turn right into the parking lot.
