The Dixie State College Peace Officer Standards and Training Academy (The Police Academy) offers Special Function Officer (SFO, also known as Cat I) training and Law Enforcement Officer (LEO, also known as Cat II) training. The SFO training is approximately 12 weeks in length and the LEO training is approximately 24 weeks in length. SFO is a prerequisite to LEO.
The classes are held from 6:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M. Monday thru Friday at the Hurricane Education Center. The instructors include local law enforcement officers, attorney's, and educators.
