Landing Zone Training for Law Enforcement

DPS’ Highway Safety Office coordinates Multi-Agency Task Forces in Salt Lake, Davis, Weber and Utah Counties. The task force meetings feature training for the participating law enforcement agencies.

At the May task force meetings, University of Utah AirMed provided landing zone training for the officers in attendance. Should the need to help a medical or rescue helicopter land at an emergency scene, these officers will be able to help make sure the landing zone is safe and viable.

When patients need to be transported or rescued, law enforcement agencies work with numerous helicopters, including the University of Utah’s AirMed, Intermountain’s Life Flight, Mountain Star’s AirCare and Classic Air Medical, as well as the DPS Aero Bureau.

This is one example of how law enforcement agencies work together with these companies to help save lives and provide better public safety services.
