DPS Public Safety Summit

The Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS) invites you to the 2022 Utah Public Safety Summit. The conference was designed with public safety professionals in mind and focuses on leadership, educational experiences, critical networking opportunities, and best practices.

Join us May 24th and 25th, in St. George, Utah, at the Dixie Convention Center.  Topics will include

Pardeep Singh Kaleka is the co-founder of Serve2Unite. His father was the leader of a Sikh temple that was attacked by a white supremacist in 2012. Pardeep’s father was killed in the attack. As a former Police Officer and educator in the inner city of Milwaukee, Pardeep understands the difficulty facing our communities. Today, as a therapist his specialization is in holistic trauma-informed treatment with survivors of assault, abuse and acts of violence. Both in his practice and out, Pardeep’s passion remains one of healing.


Nicole Florisi is currently the Executive Director for the Verde Valley Sanctuary; a shelter dedicated to providing services for survivors of sex trafficking, sexual violence, and domestic violence. She is a former full-time police sergeant with a demonstrated history of working in both law enforcement and behavioral health. Nicole served on the Verde Valley Regional SWAT team as their lead negotiator for 11 years. Her background is in hostage and crisis negotiation, de-escalation tactics, child abduction response, forensic interviewing, and forensic phlebotomy. She has additional background as a DRE Instructor, DITEP Instructor, and SFST Instructor.  She is an IADLEST Nationally Certified Instructor as well.

Nicole has a Master of Science Professional Counseling with her post-master work in trauma counseling and human factors psychology. She has a Bachelor of Science in Public Safety Administration and Emergency Management. Her work as a therapist has an emphasis in crisis and trauma with an added focus in training other therapists on working with the first responder community.

You’ll leave this two-day conference with valuable information and lessons from peers who represent organizations across the country. DPS is proud to serve the state in more ways than one, from patrolling highways to preparing Utahns for emergency situations. The Department is honored to host this conference to further prepare our public safety professionals in our great state.
