Sobering Reminder of the Consequences of Drunk Driving

The Utah Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (DABC) and law enforcement agencies throughout the state are teaming up to remind everyone to drive sober this holiday season and beyond.

Visit any of DABC’s 44 liquor stores between now and New Year’s, and you will see snowflakes, featuring the names of victims of drunk driving, hanging from store ceilings. The snowflake installations are meant to remind people that drunk driving has serious and often deadly consequences and that it’s never worth putting someone else’s life at risk by getting behind the wheel after drinking.

The snowflake displays coincide with the start of increased holiday DUI enforcement (December 15th – January 1st), during which Utah law enforcement officers will be working more than 250 overtime shifts to help remove drunk drivers from Utah’s roads.
