Daily Flood Situation Report June 1

Region 1
Cache County
Active Logan City has issued an Executive Order that limits recreation on the Logan River until 6/24/23 or the Mayor terminates the order. [LNO Correspondence]
Active Logan Ranger District High Creek Road is closed from Forest boundary to High Creek Trailhead to any type of motorized vehicle. The road was scheduled to open on 5/15, but the road will remain closed due to wet, muddy, and flooding conditions. [Uinta-Wasatch-Cache USDA Forest Service]
Weber County
Active The Bureau of Reclamation is actively monitoring the Causey Reservoir; overflow into the spillway began during the morning of 5/4/23 and is ongoing.[Bureau of Reclamation, LNO Correspondence]
Region 2
Salt Lake County
Active SR-190 and SR-210 are being monitored and assessed daily to determine if/when road closures are needed for land/mudslides, avalanches, or other hazards. Closures are possible at any time. [UDOT Cottonwood Canyons]
Summit County
Update/Final As of 5/29/23, the boil order in Kamas City was lifted. It was determined it was not caused by runoff or flooding.  [DEQ Correspondence]
Active The culverts near Old Ranch Road are at maximum capacity. The County’s sandbagging efforts are holding. [LNO Correspondence]
Utah County
New Utah County declares State of Local Disaster for flooding and damages. Active until June 29, 2023.
Active On SR-92 near Sundance, water is creating a new path along the shoulder and is beginning to undercut the roadway in the right lane. UHP and UDOT have coordinated to address the concern. [UHP Correspondence]
Active A section of Nebo Loop Scenic Road in Payson Canyon has been washed out and will be closed until further notice. The County has been assessing and tracking the damages. Additional washouts and road closures have occurred at Right Fork Hobble Creek and Monks Hollow, and Pole Canyon. [LNO Correspondence, Uintah-Wasatch-Cache USDA Forest Service]
Active A sinkhole is forming at the American Fork Boat Harbor. The road has been closed and local emergency management, local public works, and UDOT have been on scene to address the concern. [LNO Correspondence]
Active A sinkhole was reported in American Fork at The Fox Hollow Golf Club. The sinkhole has not been stabilized and, the County is continuing to monitor. [LNO Correspondence]
Active As of 4/6/23, there has been a public notice to boil water in Vivian Park due to storage tank damage caused by an avalanche on 3/23/23. [DEQ Correspondence]
Wasatch County
Update The county continues to work with UDOT to move water across Tate Lane. [LNO Correspondence]
Active The Rockcliff area at Jordanelle State Park is closed due to flooding. It is a day-use area, not a campground. [DNR Parks & Recreation]
Active Daniels Creek is still overflowing outside its banks by Charleston and SR-113. UDOT finished placing sandbags next to the road on 5/18/23. [LNO Correspondence]
Region 3
Piute County
Update Otter Creek Reservoir is 90% full and has not started releasing water yet. [LNO Correspondence]
Update Piute Reservoir has begun to decrease the amount of water released. [LNO Correspondence]
Active Sevier County is still in the process of renting equipment that they can use to remove several sandbars in the river channel. They are cleaning out the sand bars and started this process last week. This will help increase the holding and flow capacity of the river. There is also a good chance businesses will be affected in Marysvale Canyon as the river flows out of Piute County. [LNO Correspondence]
Sevier County
Update The east fork of the Sevier River has dropped approximately 2 ft. The south fork of the Sevier River is still running high, but it has dropped approximately 1 ft. [LNO Correspondence]
Region 4
Washington County
New New wildfire start 5/31/23 in the southwestern corner of Zion National Park named Crater Hill Fire, estimated at 136 acres. Ground crews and air resources are responding to the fire and the projected incident activity is continued work by firefighters in the area of Coalpits Wash near Crater Hill. Region 5
Duchesne County
New The County is coordinating with the Ute Tribe and State Engineers on mitigation efforts on the Yellowstone River, placing riprap, and getting the Preliminary Permits in case they need to proceed.  Things are holding currently with the flows coming down. [LNO Correspondence]
Uintah County
Update Water on the Green River and Ashely creek have gone below action stage.
Active The Ouray Wildlife Refuge is experiencing flooding in the wetlands, but infrastructure is not threatened at this time.  No resources have been requested. [LNO Correspondence]
Region 6/7 No significant updates to report at this time.
Tribal Nations No significant updates to report at this time.
