Governor Herbert Declares January as Law Enforcement Appreciation Month

For the first time, Governor Gary R. Herbert and the State of Utah have declared January as Law Enforcement Appreciation Month in Utah. Traditionally recognized each year on a national level, this year the Governor honored Utah’s men and women in uniform on Monday, January 9th with an official state declaration.

During the month of January Utahns are encouraged to show local law enforcement that they are appreciated. There are multiple ways to show your support, whether it is asking children in your community to write letters to officers in their area or wearing blue clothing to show your support- every gesture is valued. Most importantly, if you see an officer, thank him or her for their selfless work.

Lt. Governor Spencer Cox presented the state issued declaration to those in uniform at an event in the Capitol Rotunda.

Included in the ceremony were families of Utah officers including those who have given all. Remember, if you see an officer, thank them.
